Liza Janakievski – CEO
Liza is responsible for the overall management of Giles Wade, including the formation and implementation of business strategy. As a senior adviser, Liza manages client relationships, formulates personalised client strategies and provides relevant tax advice.
Liza co-founded Giles Wade in 2011 after identifying an opportunity to deliver a full in-house service combining financial advisory and asset management. She specialises in tax (both domestic and international), strategy, structuring and intergenerational wealth transfer.
Liza started her career as a tax accountant at Melbourne Water before moving to National Australia Bank in Group Finance. Following this, she worked for a range of boutique advisory firms.
Liza is recognised in both commercial and academic circles for her expertise. She volunteers for the Television Education Network providing technical advice, and from 2016 – 2018, was a member of the Interim Nominations Committee of the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (pro bono).
Liza has a Bachelor of Business in Accounting, Master of Business in Accounting from Victoria University and a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning with FINSIA. She is a Registered Tax Agent, Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) with the Taxation Institute, Chartered Accountant (CA) with Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CAANZ) and Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) with CPA Australia.
Liza enjoys charitable pursuits and participating in fundraising opportunities such as the Mother’s Day Classic. She has a passion for cooking and especially learning to make traditional homemade food taught to her by her Grandmother Sophie and Nona Rosa. She enjoys spending time with her extended family and friends and has a passion for fast cars.
Michele Day – Practice Manager
Michele co-founded Giles Wade and is responsible for practice management and oversight of compliance.
Michele has more than 15 years’ experience working with superannuation funds in professional advisory firms, as well as bookkeeping experience gained from a range of businesses.
Out of the office, Michele enjoys spending time with her family including her grandchildren. She also likes travel, enjoys great food and wine and Pilates.
Pierre Sowerby – Associate Adviser
Pierre is responsible for supporting client relationships and providing strategic input to the development and implementation of client advice.
Prior to joining Giles Wade, Pierre held advisory and client relationship roles at Future Assist Financial Services Group and was an Account Manager with Rigel Shipping Ltd in London.
Pierre has a Bachelor of Commerce in Management Sciences (Logistics) and a Bachelor of Philosophy in Maritime Economics and Finance from Stellenbosch University (South Africa). He also holds a Diploma of Financial Services and has recently completed an Advanced Diploma of Financial Services.
In his spare time, Pierre enjoys the challenges of rock climbing and a range of sports, including tennis, squash and touch rugby.
Steven Garrett – Analyst
Steven is responsible for supporting client relationships and providing strategic and analytical input to the development and implementation of client advice. In doing this, he draws on a breadth of experience gained within financial services from prior roles spanning personal wealth management, compliance and superannuation.
At Giles Wade, Steven is responsible for quantitative modelling and projections, the qualitative review of advice documents, and a range of special projects. In particular, he works closely with clients on superannuation and compliance matters.
Steven is passionate about Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) and has volunteered with community focused projects involving cost-benefit analysis, as well as environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) research and strategy.
Steven joins Giles Wade having completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics), Bachelor of Business (Accounting, Finance) and a Diploma of Financial Planning. To complement these qualifications, he is currently pursuing post-graduate study with a focus on applied quantitative analysis.
Steven enjoys keeping active by cycling, playing basketball, hiking and cooking in his spare time.
