Liza Janakievski – CEO

Liza is responsible for the overall management of Giles Wade, including the formation and implementation of business strategy. As a senior adviser, Liza manages client relationships, formulates personalised client strategies and provides relevant tax advice.

Liza co-founded Giles Wade in 2011 after identifying an opportunity to deliver a full in-house service combining financial advisory and asset management. She specialises in tax (both domestic and international), strategy, structuring and intergenerational wealth transfer.

Liza started her career as a tax accountant at Melbourne Water before moving to National Australia Bank in Group Finance. Following this, she worked for a range of boutique advisory firms.

Liza is recognised in both commercial and academic circles for her expertise. She volunteers for the Television Education Network providing technical advice, and from 2016 – 2018, was a member of the Interim Nominations Committee of the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (pro bono).

Liza has a Bachelor of Business in Accounting, Master of Business in Accounting from Victoria University and a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning with FINSIA. She is a Registered Tax Agent, Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) with the Taxation Institute, Chartered Accountant (CA) with Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CAANZ) and Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) with CPA Australia.

Liza enjoys charitable pursuits and participating in fundraising opportunities such as the Mother’s Day Classic. She has a passion for cooking and especially learning to make traditional homemade food taught to her by her Grandmother Sophie and Nona Rosa. She enjoys spending time with her extended family and friends and has a passion for fast cars.

Katie McDonald CFP – Director of Advisory

Katie joined Giles Wade as Director of Advisory in November 2022. Katie also heads up Giles Wade’s Perth office and provides holistic strategic advice to a range of individuals, family groups and not-for-profit organisations across the country.

With over 25 years of investment experience and 18 years of financial literacy education, Katie brings unique knowledge and expertise to her role. She sits on the committees for Financial Toolbox, 100 Women and the Financial Planning Association for Women WA.

Katie is a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) and holds a Degree in Business (Finance) and an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning.

In her spare time, Katie is a regular presenter at events relating to women and finance, and she volunteers as a mentor for the Financial Planning Association and the University of Western Australia.

Debbie Bartlett CA – Director & Principal, McGregor West

Debbie has 30+ years’ experience in business services and provides clients with tax and accounting advice.

She provides advice to businesses, trusts and individuals and has expertise in advisory, tax, payroll, SMSFs, corporate affairs and more.

Chris Teh – Business Services Manager & Principal,
McGregor West

Chris joined McGregor West in 2000. In his role he provides a range of business services. These include advisory, taxation, payroll, corporate affairs, administration and compliance solutions.

Chris is a Registered Tax Agent and Treasurer of a community sporting club.

Maddison Price – Senior Financial Adviser

Maddison joined Giles Wade in January 2022 to provide strategic advice to clients. With more than 10 years’ financial planning experience, Maddison is passionate about providing holistic financial advice to assist clients achieve their life goals.

As financial planning continues to evolve, Maddison enjoys being at the forefront of advice delivery, particularly in relation to wealth creation and investment structuring, retirement planning, superannuation and risk management advice.

Maddison holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin University, majoring in finance and financial planning, has completed the FASEA Financial Planner examination and holds a Self-Managed Super Fund qualification from Integrity Education Group. He also holds a Diploma of Commerce and is qualified as a Tax Financial Adviser via the TASA and the TPB code of professional conduct.

Outside of the office, Maddison is a foster carer and enjoys coaching his local junior football team.

Kenneth Thomson – Associate

Kenneth joined Giles Wade as an Associate in April 2022. In his role, Kenneth works closely with the Giles Wade advice team to provide holistic strategic advice to clients.

Kenneth commenced working in the financial advice industry in 2018 with a specialist risk adviser in Geelong. He recently moved to Melbourne to pursue his passion for holistic advice and to continue developing his professional skillset.

Kenneth holds a Bachelor of Commerce, with a major in financial planning, and has completed his FASEA Exam and Professional Year obligations.

Outside of work, Kenneth enjoys travel, sport, is a dedicated St Kilda fan and is currently obsessed with improving his golf handicap.

Cheri Bertrand – Client Services Manager

Cheri joined Giles Wade in March 2022 as Client Services Manager. She is passionate about delivering an enjoyable client experience and building strong and trusted relationships.

Cheri’s experience spans nearly 20 years in the financial services industry, predominately in client services and operations roles within the AMP network and a range of specialist financial planning practices. She has also worked in mortgage and finance broking.

Cheri holds a Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) and a Diploma of Financial Services (Finance and Mortgage Broking Management).

In her spare time, Cheri enjoys spending time with her husband, two young sons and horses at their hobby farm in South Gippsland.

Sophia Leewin – Graduate Adviser

Sophia joined Giles Wade in January 2019 in an administrative role and was appointed a Junior Accountant in 2020. She was recently promoted to Graduate Adviser.

Sophia assists Giles Wade’s clients with tax and accounting and is passionate about furthering her knowledge in this ever-changing environment. Sophia has attained a Bachelor of Business (Professional Accountancy).

In her spare time, Sophia enjoys sitting down with a warm oat latte and exploring a good book.
